Westminster Abbey Sleepout

This year, Westminster Abbey will be opening the cloisters for Church Urban Fund to support our fundraising efforts to help raise funds, and we are giving you the unique opportunity to join us to sleep out in solidarity.

Homelessness is a serious and growing issue and the statistics are staggering; one in ten people in England say that they have personally experienced homelessness and the number of people sleeping rough in London alone has doubled in the last five years. Across the Together Network, projects to support those experiencing homelessness include city-wide Winter Night Shelters and countless drop-in sessions providing relief for immediate needs such as food, clothing and accessing benefits, and holistic support such as financial advice, employment training and healthcare.

All the funds raised will go back in to CUF supported projects, making a lasting difference to lives and communities; last year, we raised enough money to provide over 4,000 bed spaces at night shelters across England! All our night shelters aim to offer whole person solutions, much more than just a bed; this kind of support is deeply transformative, and gives more people a chance for renewed hope and an opportunity to live life in all its fullness.

To continue this work, we need your support; the Westminster Abbey Advent Sleepout is a great way to get involved with CUF’s work and to share this experience with other supporters.

If you would like to register for the event, please contact CUF’s Programme Director Anna Jay on 020 7898 1091 or anna.jay@cuf.org.uk.
